Furniture, furniture, furniture and more furniture on this job. From bed frames, to coffee tables, lamps and decor. This was a massive clean out at a resort in Acme, MI. The resort that contacted us is starting a $10 million dollar remodel project that will transform the entire look of the resort.
There were over 100 rooms full of furniture that needed to be removed so they could be repurposed, donated and recycled. The first item on the list was to call Junk Titan to get our crews out there and start removing all the heavy furniture.
One of the issues the resort was having was that they were short staffed and did not have the physical manpower to remove the contents of the rooms themselves. The sheer quantity of each item was quite overwhelming. Many of the items were moved by resort staff down to a large ball room on the ground level floor where it then needed to be distributed to various sources. Our crew was hired to remove the large, heavy pieces to be further broken down in the dumpster. This labor intensive and potentially dangerous work is best left up to professionals who have proper equiptment to move these heavy wood bed frames shown in the photos.
Easily the two most common questions our service reps hear on a daily basis is;
How much is this going to cost?
When can you get started?
We were able to provide a labor only estimate to the resort within a couple hours of their original outreach to our reception team. They immediately accepted our estimate and wanted to get on our schedule as soon as possible.
On certain occasions we will provide labor only service to customers who do not necessarily need our trucks, but need the licensed and insured labor to remove items. In these circumstances we provide a price per 10 yards loaded. We do not charge hourly. This makes it very simple for everyone to understand and there are never disagreements along the way with this method of pricing. It's a win-win.
This project is under strict time constraints so they needed our help as soon as possible to begin this furniture removal job in Acme. The following day we had a crew scheduled and heading out to the resort to begin the job. We used special furniture dollies at the resort to remove and transport these heavy wooden bed frames down to the dumpster where they would then be broken down into smaller pieces in the dumpster manually.
There's really no other way to put it other than this is hard work. Definitely work that you want to leave to professionals who do this every day.
The first day the weather was terrible, freezing rain with 50mph gusts were hammering down on our crews who were transporting these heavy pieces of furniture and breaking them up outside in the dumpster. Our crews worked diligently to fill the entire 30 yard bin with broken down wood material which only took them 4 hours! These guys can definitely hustle!
The second day, the hook lift truck came and swapped dumpsters to give our crews an empty one to begin filling again. We repeated the same process, hauling and breaking down the large wood bed frames. The weather was much better and the sun was shining which made a big difference. Although the crews were tired they are true Junk Titans and got the job done in the same incredible timing as the first day.
By the end of the second day our crews managed to haul, break down and fill 60 cubic yards worth of heavy furniture in 8.5 hours total time. Well done team...well done.
Easily the best part of our day at Junk Titan is seeing the relief in the faces of our customers. We are so fortunate to be able to provide a service that makes everyone feel good on a daily basis. This situation was no different. The space opened up again and the job was done. Our point of contact at the resort told us he was quite worried at first and he was not sure how everything was going to be removed as the quantity was just overwhelming. But after hiring us, there was instant relief and this is just the beginning of the large remodel project.
We will most definitely be back there to remove more material as they continue to remodel. The fact that they can sub this part of the project out helps them tremendously in meeting their strict project deadlines.
You never know who's on the other end of our phones when they ring. It's probably my favorite part of the business. We get to work with so many different types of businesses and people on a daily basis. Though they are completely different in nature, their problems are generally similar. They have extra stuff and they need someone to help them get rid of it.
The kind folks at the resort were very helpful and kind. We love building professional relationships with local businesses and helping them in any way we can.
This is probably not the last time you'll hear about us removing furniture from this particular resort either.
